High-schools zero-tolerance policies too harsh

Last month, a teenage girl was suspended for two weeks from Oakton High School in Fairfax County, Va. for taking her birth control at lunchtime. The teen has also been recommended for expulsion because of Fairfax County's zero-tolerance drug policy, meaning to combat drug use, schools will often impose a severe punishment for the first offense.

GOP Rushes Limbaugh

Around the time of Barack Obama's inauguration, right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh made headlines for some reason when he belched "I hope he fails!" White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, whom I like to think of as the Wolverine to Obama's Captain America, responded by scornfully referring to Limbaugh as "the leader of the Republican party.

Dear The Commonwealth Times, I was shocked to read that people are defending the publication of the "Beirut" picture! That picture never should have been published. Whether you realized it or not, having a picture like that on the cover normalizes domestic violence.
