After working for a human rights advocacy organization last summer, I thought it would be a great idea to intern in a senator's office for the fall semester.

It was not long after the next president was named that president-elect Barack Obama was in the news once again, but on an entirely different topic. Rather than just becoming the 44th president of the United States of America, Obama now has a few more questions to answer.

Post elections are hostile in the McCain camp suggested CNN in a breaking news report last Thursday. Palin still denies splurging in a $150,000 shopping spree, but reports claim she exceeded her original $25,000 budget and were shocked to find an additional $125,000 tab left on the bill.

It's difficult for many students to leave their home from another state and come to college. For volleyball standout Rhyan Shy, moving more than 3,000 miles away was no easy feat.
There may be a few things you might not know about 18-year-old Shy. For instance, she is a Freshman Pre-Medicine major; she was the first African-American student body President at Los Osos High School, in Rancho Cucamonga, California; her favorite movie is Brown Sugar; she was a three-year volleyball letter winner earning 1st Team All-Baseline League, 2nd Team All-County and Offensive Player of the Year honors while in California; and has quickly become one of Morgan's best offense volleyball players, in her first year as Outside Hitter for the Lady Bears.

Last week's election marked an historical accomplishment for this country. Only 50 years after African Americans were finally given the right to vote, the first black president was elected. This will go down in history books as an amazing feat in the name of diversity.

Ladies, listen up: I know it's not your fault, but some people aren't meant to wear booty shorts.
Nice guy looking to settle. Any ladies done with their one night encounters?
It's not OK that you hit a girl and got away with it, which is why I peed in a cup and poured it all over your apartment door.

In 1992, the phrase, "It's the economy, stupid," served as a tenet of Bill Clinton's presidential run against then-president George Bush, Sr. After experiencing approval ratings upward of 90 percent in the wake of the Persian Gulf War, Bush's approval ratings dropped dismally - below 40 percent - in late 1992 when the economy fell into a recession.

As T.J. Leyden walks on stage he looks seemingly normal - light blue jeans, rectangular-rimmed glasses and two layered shirts - a green, short-sleeved T-shirt over a beige, long-sleeved shirt. Upon first glance, one would never know the long-sleeved shirt - a constant staple of his wardrobe - conceals dozens of tattoos of Nazi symbols, permanent reminders of a past filled with racism and violence.

My best friend goes to a known party school; Princeton Review ranked it as number 15 on the list. Her freshman year consisted of random nights and lonely mornings. But it was only recently that I got a call from Down South about how she was currently in a monogamous relationship in the middle of her sophomore year.

Freshman Brett Griffin died after a party on Nov. 8. His death, which, according to Newark police was related to alcohol, spurred opposition to fraternities at the university from some students.
Freshman Kendra Schaefer said she now sees the fraternity that held the party, Sigma Alpha Mu, as "shameful" for taking the rush process to a fatal extent.

I'm not so thankful to the people who decided on this year's Thanksgiving break.
I'm sick of getting such a short Thanksgiving break. We've been at school for three months. We're tired and bogged down with work. A week off before the stretch run of the semester would do wonders, but instead the break, which covers just two weekdays, is just an added stress as people scramble to figure out how they'll get home in time to cut the turkey and see all the relatives they hate.
